The purpose of this course is to assist with knowledge on finance, accounting, ratio’s, trends, analysing profit & loss statements and be able to make sound decisions for a business or department.

Who should do this course?
Any person responsible for managing a business unit needing to analyse the business performance and make decisions, based on the financial information provided.

Assessment required for competency.

  • Analysing the basic elements of an income and expenditure statement.
  • Analysing the basic elements of a balance sheet.
  • Compiling a personal assets and liabilities statement.
  • Using the evidence in financial statements to make a financial decision.
  • Explaining financial analysis.
  • Calculating ratios to measure profitability and resource utilisation
  • Calculating ratios to measure viability
  • Identifying growth opportunities through financial results and reporting the results of financial analysis.
  • Applying critical and analytical skills to analyse an issue or problem.
  • Engage with stakeholders in analysing the issue/problem and developing solutions.
  • Selecting feasible solutions through a systems approach.
  • Formulating and communicating the decision.
